Nickle Nackle Bird.

  Nickle Nackle Bird.

Room One in Wainui Beach School drew birds from the book " The Nickle Nackle Tree.".  We drew a real bird but the birds had something that was added that the bird didn't already have.  Room One painted the Nickle Nackle Birds with water colours.  We had a challenge to paint in between the lines with the water colours.  I chose to draw a kiwi with a different lot of colours.  My kiwi was red, blue and brown.  We had five simple steps to make our birds.  These are the instructions:

1.  Sketch out a bird.

2.  Use a vivid over the pencil.

3.  Rub out the pencil markings.

4.  Colour in your bird with water colours.

5.  Cut out your bird.

I thought doing this was extremely exciting.

Tairawhiti Environment Center.

                    Tairawhiti Environment Center

“Rrrrring.”   Rang the second bell.  I ran back to Room 1 as fast as I could.

“Crunch!”  Cracked a plant.  It was a beautiful day in Gisborne city.  We travelled in a slow and loud bus.  Room one, four and I were split into three BIG groups for six BIG rotations.

I was in a group with a blue necklace.  The blue group and I had our first rotation in a room full of kai.  Food was in there because gizzy kai rescue had rescued the food before the people at pak n save and countdown throw the food into a skip.   The food is for families that are poor.  After the third rotation, Room one, four and I had morning tea.

After morning tea, team blue and I helped make compost for our fourth rotation.

Pick 'n' mix.

                              Pick 'n' mix.

Room one at Wainui Beach School, does pick 'n' mix for a maths warm - up.  We do pick 'n' mix to warm our brains up for maths questions when we do times tables.  Room one started pick 'n' mix in July ( I don't actually know if we started in July.).  We started pick 'n' mix to practice our times tables.

Materials.

You will need : a pack of playing cards and 2 or more people to play with.

How to play.

1.  Pick up your pack of cards and pull the picture cards out of your way ( but make sure you don't throw the picture cards and jokers because you still need them for other games.).

2.  Call your friends over to play.

3.  Shuffle your cards and turn your cards so you can't see the numbers on your cards.

4.  Start flipping the cards over.  The person with the most cards, WINS!

Skipping

                          Skipping.

Every morning, room one at Wainui Beach School, does morning skipping after the morning roll.  We grab a whiteboard, skipping ropes and a whiteboard pen.  We have buddy’s that we skip with every single day (except Friday's.).  Our buddy count’s how many skips we could do in: 15, 30 and 45 seconds.  My buddy is named Roy.  Him and I are the teachers' exception with the size of our skipping ropes because we didn’t have any other choice of a buddy with the same sized skipping rope, so we had to be buddy’s .  Roy and I both skip fast.  I normally get somewhere in between 20 and 0.
